Born in Hong Kong to South African parents, I grew up exposed to rich culinary cultures that greatly influence my cooking style today. From Chinese street food, to classic comforts, the foods I love span across Asia and beyond.
Growing up (and to this day) my mother was the life force of the household - the kitchen, her stronghold. An amazing cook and baker, she would rustle up the most generous spreads from scratch, with the ease and skill of generations of women within her crooked fingertips. For as long as I can remember I would watch her in awe, helping her with whatever I could, soaking up a love for food like olive oil to soft bread.
Having been lucky to live in three bustling cities (Hong Kong, Cape Town + London) and travel a fair amount in between, I have collected an overwhelming amount of inspiration. These chapters are filled with people, places and spaces that have been abundantly generous in sharing their innate love for food. So naturally, I want to share them with you.
At my core, I love creating generous, delicious comfort recipes that intersect this crossroad of cultures. Food is an ode to friends and family, and sharing food is one of the greatest gifts we as human beings have to give. I hope you enjoy exploring my world.
